About Calm Canine Grooming
Hi, I’m Jane, the groomer behind Calm Canine Grooming.
I’ve always had a deep love for dogs and have been lucky to share my life with two wonderful Cocker Spaniels, Ben and George.
George joined us during lockdown and, like many dogs raised at that time, missed out on some early socialisation. Busy, high-stimulus environments, like many traditional grooming salons can be overwhelming for him. His journey inspired me to rethink grooming as more than just a cosmetic service, and instead as an experience that supports a dog’s overall wellbeing.
At Calm Canine Grooming, I combine my lifelong love of dogs with an understanding of their emotional and physical needs to offer a holistic, ethical grooming experience, that nurtures not just how dogs look, but how they feel.
My background is in social care, supporting vulnerable children and young people. I have brought the same principles of patience, empathy, and individualisation into my grooming practice. Whilst dogs are different from people, the approach of observing, responding thoughtfully, and prioritising comfort applies, particularly to those dogs who are easily stressed, sensitive, or elderly.
I focus on creating a quiet, one-to-one environment, using cruelty-free and locally sourced brands, such as, Cheshire based Peanut & Pickle.
Appointments may be slightly longer than those in a traditional grooming salon. This is intentional. Each session is carried out at your dog’s individual pace, allowing time to build trust, reduce stress, and create a positive experience. Where needed, breaks are offered throughout the groom, so your dog may not be on the grooming table for the entire duration.
As a home-based grooming space, dogs are cared for in a quiet, low-stimulation environment. They also have access to a secure garden for toilet breaks and short rests, supporting both their comfort and overall wellbeing during their visit.
